Comments: I Need an IT Translator For Work

LOL! This sounds like the last four hours at my desk! My blog roll went south and I couldn't fix it so I get hold of Livey, my blog momma and she went to work on it. It was a goat rope for a while but she managed to get most everything back in shape. There is still some stuff to do tomorrow ( today )but we'll get there. But her talking to me on the phone was like you talking to IT because I know damn little about a PC. She had to open hers up and talk me through it on the phone because I could not speak the jargon. DAMN

LOL! I feel for you.

Though I'm not in the IT division, those skills are precisely the reason I'm so valuable at work. It's because I speak IT, as we call it at my firm, that I'll probably never be out of a job.

Thank goodness for George.

I can soooo relate to this post. I used to be able to call on a number of Georges, but so many have left my company and I don't have that kind of relationship with the newbies. It can be frustrating!

Everyone needs an IT to human liasion!

That is a huge problem in my office, that is why I'm the liason between our IT department and our office.

We have 1 guy as our IT department at work and he only does that part time, he has other responsibilities too. We contract out most of our IT work.

I am no computer genus, but I know more about computers than our IT guy.

That is soooo scary.

Hmm Reminds me of the times I use to get phone calls from a certain someone. ;-) ;-)

George is a great guy. Glad he ended up working in the same place as you.

Yep, that's why I have Doug. Sometimes it works. Other times I remain confused.

IT has a different language?!?! Well, shoot - that explains why I've been having problems....

;-)

I am glad I have no IT guys here at my current job, I would have been fired long ago.....

First thing I did with my new company was go and make nice-nice with the IT guys. Taking a couple of them out to lunch today actually....

If you marry your IT guy, you have help at home as well.

What are an IT guy? ;)

Posted by That 1 Guy at October 4, 2005 09:29 PM

OK, here's a scary thought. *I'm* the IT person in this house. Boy and I couldn't be married to an IT guy. Communication is tough enough... sheesh, that would be brutal!

VW- Yeah. I called you like once a day!

For Christmas, get George—your IT guru—a dredlock wig and some chicken bone rattles.

He'll know what to do with 'em.
