We do not deter anyone from commiting these kinds of violent crimes by paying so much attention to those who do.

Name five serial killers.

Name five of their collective victims.

Which is easier to do?

We should just forget about these "people", rather than making them celebrities with tv movies, news coverage, etc...

Whether we show them sympathy or not, when we pay attention to them at all, they are getting exactly what they wanted all along.

Eternal fame.

Let's put our energies somewhere else.

Cary, you are absolutely correct. It is very easy to reform and repent your sins after you are caught. The murder of innocent people always seems to bring out an army of those who will defend the indefensible. I wish the energy and money spent in Mr. Williams name was spent helping the victims of his legacy.

I've been long thinking about writing a novel from a murder victim's and their family's point of view, for that's who we really ought to focus on. If I can just get my thoughts together on it, I think it could make a difference in people's perspectives.

... of course I may have to commit a crime in order to get it published...

Why did Americans forgive GWB for his boozing and drug dealing? He took Christ and he is a new man. Is it because he is White? born into the Bush clan? I do not believe in the death penalty..I see this as a terrible day in our history. Why was Tookie not able to be forgiven for his good deeds while Americans allowed Bush to become president? I see it as a hypocritical issue...a racial one as well..

You don't think that maybe it was because GWB did not murder four people with a shotgun for a couple of hundred bucks?

If you cannot tell the difference you are an idiot! Blacks are filling the prisons for crimes THEY commited, mostly against other blacks.

Your hatred for George Bush has clouded your judgment.

Go Here and look at the pictures of Tookie's victims and then come back and tell me they give a fuck about GWB's indescretions.

Stupid bitter liberal asshat

I am against the death penalty. We need a plan to make our society a better one. Executing Tookie will not change a thing. People will continue to murder each other and so on and so on.

Melissa, I am against the death penalty as well, in its current form. 25 years to execute a scumbag like Williams is ridiculous. If after 30 days of being convicted you can't make your case....Adios. That would change the effectiveness of the death penalty dramatically.

Tookie's four victims all got the death penalty without taking their politics into question.

We can forgive someone for harming us or others, but that does not mean forgetting or letting them escape justice. Sure he may have been rehabilatated, but would you want him living next door to you? I wouldn't.
