Comments: No flag lapel pin? Big deal. No hand over heart during Pledge of Allegiance? Hmm ...

The original poster updated his story. This was during the National Anthem, which doesn't have the same hand-on-heart rule.

Also, you have to be careful when you comment on a photo of a moment that lasts ~30 seconds (going back to assuming this is the pledge). It could have been snapped at the end of the pledge, and Obama was the first to lower his hand in order to do the pee-pee dance, apparently.

Joe: Thanks for that pick up. However, the same post has United States Code, Title 36, Chapter 10, Sec. 171, which states:

During rendition of the national anthem when the flag is displayed, all present except those in uniform should stand at attention facing the flag with the right hand over the heart. Men not in uniform should remove their headdress with their right hand and hold it at the left shoulder, the hand being over the heart.

Apparently the anthem does have the same rule.

And I did note in my post that the photo could have indeed been taken right when the Pledge (anthem, apparently) began, so I am indeed cognizant of your concern.

Is this even a real picture? It looks highly photoshopped to me. The woman on the right looks like she is way too small. Same goes for Hillary.

Mmmmperspective, perhaps?

Whoops, read that as the pledge. My mistake :)

Looks like my attention was not great when reading both posts.

I often fail to put my hand over my heart when the anthem plays... but that's because I tend to stand at attention even though it's been decades since I wore the uniform.

I never use both hands to cup my genitals while standing on stage regardles of what music is playing.

Nobody on that stage looks like they are running for national office.
