Comments: Shop At Home First -- Potted Plants

Great idea. I've used perennials in pots, but not hostas. I have two large pots that get regularly ignored because they are not near my regular walkways. Hostas and vincas...just the right combo.

They look great. This is my first summer in the south so I'm still figuring out what grows here and what might struggle. I have a couple of big pots coming out of storage this weekend that need some prettiness to fill them. I have my small herb pots too waiting to be filled. I've never been able to to parsley but the rest of my herbs normally do pretty well. I'm not a fan of hosta...not because I dislike the looks of it but because when I had my log cabin, the previous owners had filled the front beds with nothing but hostas and fiddle ferns. I tried for years to kill the stupid hosta - I dug it out, I neglected it when it came back, I planted other things to crowd it. The stuff would not die. When I dug it out, it would grow back - it was like robo-hosta. Okay, enough ranting...perhaps I need to let go of my bitterness over the hosta. LOL

I would love to be able to do something with hostas, especially as I have quite a few shady spots around the yard. Unfortunately, the deer just hoover them up.

Stupid deer.
