Um, whatever happened to Duran Duran?! Terence Trent D'Arby, indeed. Pah.

Gotta go with songwriting talent there, babe. Substance over style, yo.

Ah, Terence...

First album - unbelievably good.
Third album - surprisingly solid.
Second album - so stunningly bad that I have lent it to people to hear how bad it is, only too have them refuse to return it (once) or break the CD right it front of me (twice). Seriously, I've owned four copies of the worst album ever.

Rex is a headbanger fan, I see!

Brud: I agree that d'Arby really had a sophomore slump. But he's an incredibly talented songwriter/performer. That third album, too, was really really good. I saw him in concert in '93 (he opened for Duran Duran at the Mann in Philly ... I took the wife for our 4th anniversary) and he was outstanding.

E.L.O.!!! Nice one G Rex.

There's a vanity project out by a bunch of musicians called L.E.O. - Alpalcas Ogrling. An absolute love letter to Jeff Lynne that I highly recommend.

D'Arby (who has since changed his name to Sananda Maitreya because of a series of dreams) is a favorite - you don't buy four copies of a bad album unless there's a good reason. He definitely dropped off the face of the earth after his debut, though.
