I wanted to say that Mike sounds like a great guy to have had on our side.
He knew what real friendship was about, and what an unselfish way to die.
I am proud to be an American with such brave men and women protecting us!
God Bless him, his fellow soldiers, and his family.

I was sent an email and the pictures did not show up so I googled Navy Petty Officer Mike Monsoor. I found so much info and pictures of such a wonderful, vibrant, handsom young man it brought tears to my eyes. It hit home with me that men like this are dying every day for the country I call home. My heart goes out to his family, everyone who has loved him or was loved by him.

I served in the Army, and considered myself to be fully dedicated. However, this is the selfless act that is found only in a true hero. I can not say what I'd have done. I am proud to be an American, but hardly feel worthy of the title in this man's shadow. God Bless him, his family, and those he saved. Gentlemen make the most of the time he gave you, but do not feel guilty. He made a choice.... a hero's choice.
