Yep, it's Palin.

Politics aside:

1) This election will make history one way or the other, and that's pretty damn nifty.

2) Tina Fey had better make time out of her "30 Rock" schedule to get back to the SNL set once a week this fall. I haven't heard Palin talk, but there's a great resemblance there!

Politics not aside -- Smart pick in a lot of ways, incredibly risky in a lot of others:

1) As even commenters on NRO are saying, it'll be real tough to sell Obama as failing the commander-in-chief test when you're offering up a political neophyte to back up a 73-year-old man with recurrent melanoma.

2) She's going to energize the far right. But with her ties to big oil, her record on the environment, and her anti-abortion position, she won't pick off many Hillary supporters.

3) Beware the ethical skeletons in the closet.....

What ethical skeletons, dan? She's run AGAINST the establishment in AK, Ted Stevens in particular.

She's been fending off an investigation that she abused her power by firing AK's public safety commissioner. There are allegations that she did so because the guy refused to fire her brother-in-law, who's in a nasty divorce fight with Palin's sister.

This is one of the reasons she fell off the VP radar screen this summer.

So I see. She's said she welcomes any inquiry, so we'll see what happens.
