Comments: *Alan Rickman Alan Rickman Alan Rickman

Can't remember the character's name, but Love Actually?

If Alan Rickman was a word, he would be 'gander'.

Talk about your random homonymy (not a made up word, BTW). But how is it possible that the word gander could mean to stare at, or refer to a goose. WTF, English!? Why do you do that?

As an aside:
This new game is better than name that tune, or whatever. I didn't even know the guy's name was Alan Rickman before yesterday. Seriously, when you first posted, I had to IMDB that ass.

The irony is that it seems I know more about the movies starring a guy I couldn't name; than I do about the lyrics to songs I can name.

I don't even remember the first time I noticed Alan Rickman by name. It was after "Die Hard" but before (I think) "GalaxyQuest." I was startled to discover later that he had been the villain in DH.

This quote utterly escapes me.

The correct word is "arbitraritude", Jen.

No clue on this one but this could be a good time to start relating some little known facts about Alan Rickman:

* Alan Rickman can make his face up to 3 inches longer when needed for droll delivery.

* In an emergency an Alan Rickman monologue can be safely substituted for most analgesics and depressants.

Shank, you're looking for "homonym", not "homonymy". Homonymy means "Of or related to the study of grits, or the preparation thereof".

It from Sweeney Todd. Alan Rickman plays Judge Turpin. Amazing film!
