Comments: Gratuitous Supper Bowl Observation

Pretty crappy match-up if you ask me. I'd just as soon have the Saints lose so Jeremy Shockey can just shut his big fat pie-hole.

This one is easy. Tell the gels that Taylor Swift is much more popular in Indy than in New Orleans. Instant Saints-lanch in Orgle Manor (and possibly even true).

Interested to hear why you think Manning is an arrogant jerk. I lived in Knoxville while he was at UT. I had the opportunity to interact with several of the football players, including Manning. He was one of the nicest, humble and generous guys I've ever met.

Just curious as to why you feel that way...

Ditto on the request as to Payton being arrogant. He's been unfailing polite in interviews here in the heart of Colts country, and always mentions teammates and the team first when asked about his successes in games. While its clear that he realizes that this is his team, he never takes sole credit for wins. And other his "idiot kicker" comment, I can't recall an occasion where he bad-mouthed teammates or coaches.

Sorry to pile on, but I was equally taken aback at your assessment of Manning. One of the things I find likeable about him is his willingness to make fun of jimself and of his hero status. He strikes me as passionate, and confident, but also as humble and genuine.

Payton was pretty good on SNL. If you want to be a championship winning athlete you do have to have some self confidence that borders on arrogance. Same with political leaders. Even Reagan & Palin. "Vote for me, I have the answers."

I suspect the Colts will win. Been there before, won't be over whelmed like the Saints will be.

I thought devil's spawn was for whomever was quarterbacking the Cowboys.

My only knowledge of Peyton is post-game when the Huskers beat the Vols 42-17 in the orange bowl.

Peyton waited outside the Huskers locker room until someone invited him in so he could congratulate the winning team.

That's high class, if you ask me.

Manning demonstrated his true character with his horrible treatment of a female athletic trainer at UT. When she dared to complain he and his went after her until a guy on the track team, who witnessed his stunt, wrote him an open letter calling him on being an entitled jerk and a bully. A settlement was paid. Many years later he and his dad write a book and drag the entire incident up again with a bit of revisionary history thrown in. The upshot was that the former trainer, now with a PhD looses a job when the book excerpts show up on the AD's desk. He just couldn't let it go.

As a lifelong Falcons fan, I just can't cheer for the Saints.
