Happy Birthday, Mr. T!

At that age, my eldest, Sagacitas, had already taken the SAT 3 times.

This was at the instigation of Northwestern, which has been tracking advanced placement students from Elementary school onwards.

Northwestern's work is part of Title X which was initiated by the National Defense Education Act of 1958. My advanced placement in elementary was the result of the NDEA. Go Space Race!

One aside about the SAT writing portion. Make sure he brings a sharp pencil, Pentel or whatnot.

They grade down on the essay when they can't read it.

We saw this with our son the first year they instituted the writing portion. His handwriting is a bit better than mine, but he won't print when he needs to make it legible. Just sayin.

Time goes by so very quickly but I suspect, Mr. T. that your greatest strength will always be in the support and love of your family. Your Mom is right. What a very different world it would be. Happy Birthday Mr. T.

Thank you, everyone! He had a GREAT birthday. My folks got him Madden 11 and he's in heaven. We got him a new bike, it's too big, we have to take it back. Bummer.

As for the SAT, our school only offers the opportunity in 7th grade and unfortunately, he was sick during the test scores that they used (6th grade scores) and did even worse than normal. His grades are never equal to his test scores. That's what any extra cash we ever have will go towards for him... teaching him to take the test. His brother already took it though and told him it was no big deal. (7th grade) I think it was just a good experience. I wish T had had it... he's have gotten more out of it.

Happy Birthday a day late! He is the same age as my boy, though mine turns 14 in June. They'll be starting high school together. There is no IB school here - don't really know if there is one anywhere in NC!

Fourteen? Really? Wow. Tempus fugit.

(Gotta admit, my dad used to intentionally mispronounce that particular Latin phrase. Heh.)

Anyhow, happy belated birthday to Mister T!
