Good question, Hube. I've been wondering about the same thing. Somehow a 5-4 ruling in favor of labeling DOMA unconstitutional is good (if you're a liberal, that is) but abolishing an outdated section of a nearly 50-year old law is bad and "racist." Never mind that society's views of African-Americans have changed substantially since then, and they have more voter turnout than they did in the 1960s.I don't get it, either.

Carl beat me to my point -- yesterday we were hearing that a 5-4 ruling that did not give Congress and the President deference was a travesty, but today we hear a 5-4 decision that did not give Congress and the President deference is a grand vindication of the Constitution.
