As someone who prefers the original to the newer series (as I mentioned at my blog once), I look forward to this movie.

I never cared mich for Moore, Ron's series. TOS Galactica was a representation of human potential and showed the best Mankind. GINO (Galactica In Name Only) not only had humans that were very much like us, so were the Cylons!!

Thanks for chiming in, Rich. I totally agree with you. Carl and I had a brief e-mail discussion about this w/regards to Star Trek. Despite many head scratching moments in its many incarnations, it represents a vibrant and positive view of humans and humanity where just about every other race in the galaxy strives to be like us (or, at least, the Federation), not the other way around.

Or, the message is that they should be like us. I mean, just look at the Federation's immediate neighbors: The Romulans are akin to a emperor-led Roman Empire (no surprise, given their name); the Cardassians are a military junta, and the Klingons are like our current Arab world -- a formerly enlightened civilization now largely regressed.
