Oh, great, another comic book "death." How long will it be before Wolverine is brought back? Probably next year's crossover.
I remember when I could counter criticism of the short-lived (sic!) comic book deaths by pointing to Barry Allen/Flash, Bucky Barnes, or the Kree Captain Marvel. Now even those meaningful, character-defining deaths are retconned.
Even Thomas and Martha Wayne have come back to life, in the terrible Flashpoint cross-over that paved the way for the DCNu.
On the plus side, Jean Grey has been dead for, what? Ten years this time?
It would be nice if comic book writers tried to tell good stories, rather than hit us over the head time and again with the same storyline.
As an Iron Man fan, art, the end for me (pun intended) was when then-IM writer Joe Quesada brought back not only Professor Yinsen, but freakin' Wong Chu -- Iron Man's original nemesis from Tales of Suspense #39.
I mean, WTF?
Yeah, that's definitely when Iron Man jumped the shark. Wasn't that called "Sons of Yinsen" or something like that? Or was it "Sentient Armor?" For me, Marvel jumped the shark with Civil War, One more Day and the Cap vs the Tea Party Line. With DC, it was Identity Crisis and Final Crisis.
Yeah, the Sons of Yinsen and the Sentient Armor storylines were intertwined.
