Comments: Kudos to Alexander Fleming

Yea, Mom for getting the "doctor" to look at the patient before prescribing something.

At least when we go into emergency (price the same after insurance as the med center/doc-in-a-box), they take the adult child directly from triage (real nurses) to a treatment room and and start a line so they can inject the drugs directly into the body.

Its so much better dealing with real nurses over (maybe) community college (or Everest Institute) trained med techs.

Then there was the time we took our youngest in wheezing and looking like a lobster. They couldn't get the line started fast enough so that they could push the antihistamines to keep his throat open. Boy, that was fun.

We haven't been in that part of the ER treatment rooms in a while. That area was behind the crash bays and ambulance area, so they may have remodeled it into more crash bays. They have also added several simple and CAT-scan X-ray rooms in the ER area so that patients don't have to ride the elevator to get their pictures taken. So there is no telling what other remodeling they have done.

I prefer the ER's, but there are long waits and they are far away. We did the ER for T on Thanksgiving. He was doubled over with chest pains, struggling to breath. Turns out he was dehydrated after 6 hours of football and water not doing it for him. The ER doc said, "We will hook him up to an IV..." and I said, "Umm... we can do that, but why not just give him a bottle of Gatorade?"

He started to laugh and said, "You are absolutely right. I tell people all the time that we are the only country in the world where we refuse to orally hydrate our kids." And with that, the nurse handed me a bottle of Gatorade and we moved on.

They were awesome though... ALL of them.

Standing Ovation!!!

Absolutely ZERO excuse for diagnosing a patient that the tech nor the doc has even examined.

I would've gone Level 4 Nuclear too...

BTW: What was Bones reaction to hearing Roxanne? ;-)
