"In A World That Already Fears And Hates Them -- What If Only Blacks Had Superpowers?"

Black-on-black crime'll give new meaning to X-Men's "Protecting those that fear them" tagline.

So they'll be able to fly and have X-Ray vision but still be 1-2 standard IQ deviations below whites?

What could go wrong?

You know what? Good for them, I mean that sincerely. We're always saying, "make the comics you want" and here they are, doing that. So good on them.

My prediction? If I was a betting man I'd say this will last 2, maybe 3 years because it will get a lot of press, and some readers buying it because they feel they "have to." This sense of it being "important" will also cause the publisher to put up with a loss from it for far longer than if it was any other book.

But eventually it will fail because the writers will be more obsessed with THE MESSAGE than the characters or plot and eventually even the most guilt ridden reader won't have enough motivation to pick it up so the series will fade.

Though I could be wrong. The makers of it might care more about the characters and plot than THE MESSAGE. Such would probably cause strain with some of the press and a few vocal nannies but eventually their attention will fade and the solid core of readers invested will give the book a steady growth.

But I'm not betting on that.
