Comments: This shouldn't surprise me.

That's a new one. That's like saying "We only promote slackers around this joint. Why don't you ease up on the work and pass the buck like our new promotee."

It's a shame, but regretfully not that uncommon when management ain't the swiftest bunnies in the forest.

If you find somebody who's driven and will bust their arse they often become hard to replace in their position. Thus they're passed over for promotion because the other slackards wouldn't step up to fill the void.

I've seen it at least a hundred times in as many different companies.

With inept management there really is a price to pay for being to good at one's job.

Hey, maybe if I stop cleaning bathrooms and let my school look like crap, I too could be promoted!

It makes just as much sense. . .

Wherever I've worked, I could count on one hand the number of competant workers who were promoted as opposed to morons with the mental capacity of a sack of hammers.

I see that all the time. Seems some management types have nothing better to do that hone to art of the dumb-arse.

This isn't new in my office... not my company, just this office. I have milquetoast management that just have issues.

I'm still trying to figure out what they could have meant by that, that *wasn't* supposed to mean she was getting punished for being a hard worker.
Something along the lines of "you need to learn to work smarter, not harder"? That there's a need to learn organizational or prioritizing skills?
Hmmm.. I don't get it.
