Comments: Honor your parents.

I think its all part of the continued erosion of our respect for life in general. Most people are afraid of real issues, to the point they can't even face them, and want to do what is most convenient (I need to protest the war. Put grandpa in the closet till we get back). They think the government will take our tax money to care for those we no longer want to deal with (elderly, homeless, mentally ill, etc.) And based on personal experience, I can tell you that it doesn't go where they think. And as for humane treatment, well, they do the best they can.

I hope that we (my wife and I) will be able to care for our parents if it is needed. They gave of themselves in our time of need, we should be able to return the favor, even if it means sacrifice.

Just another example of moral erosion in our society where anything goes, today it's abortion, tomorrow it'll be euthanasia. Remember how the party of caring behaved at the late senator Wellstone's funeral, that is what has spawned from that liberal generation.

I think you're right on a few points there. Having worked in social services for years, that's about the size of it. The supposed "compassion" for the poor and ill in many cases seems to be only a thin veil for contempt.
