Comments: Tempest in a B-cup...

Hey, I used to blog from Journalspace, the poor man's LiveJournal. Talk about your "common-sense impaired girls screaming for attention." Boy howdy.

But the fun thing about doing that post was that I really did discover blogs I'd never found before. Partly from cruising the Blogs for Bush site; partly from links I'd previously ignored on other blogs. And it was very cheering to find out that, yes, Virginia, there are women with brains who don't just vote the straight Democratic ticket as a reflex.

I liked what you said here:

I don't blog for recogintion. It's fun when it happens, and there's that thrilling little rush when I see a trackback on a post I've written. But that's not why I'm here.

I think it was Rob of Crabapple Lane who said something similar in my comments one day: "If they come, they come. If not, the echo's cool too." And I think I said back to that, hell yeah. Sometimes the echo's the best thing about. Helps me clear my head and sort things out.

That's really the only reason to bother, in my opinion. Otherwise it's just the internet version of high school popularity contests. And who in her right mind wants to go back to high school?

I'll shut up now and go back to laughing about "mammalial protuberances." Nice turn of phrase.

I wouldn't blame the XY's at all. Seems that the gals have it all under 'control.' To me, anyway.

"Sadly, these are the vast majority of female bloggers . . ."

You're half right . . . The other half:

"Sadly, these are the vast majority of male bloggers . . . "

It's the old bell curve. In any grouping, most are mediocre, and a few are either really good or really bad.

Saddly, you're right. Actually more than half, I'm afraid. Just a factor of sheer numbers.

The driving force at Wizbang does annual blogger awards for exceptional blogs/bloggers. I wonder if anyone does the reverse? I'd be interested to see if such a thing exists. Well, not too interested. I was probably a nominee.

I am loathe to try to participate in a labelling contest, but I think the blog world is big enough for everyone.

For those of us that post personal blogs-that'd be me, anyway-I post since it's basically a form of cheap therapy. And I have met a lot of nice people. And I just like writing, full stop. I don't think I have yet posted about mall fashions or the radio-nor do I feel the need to do so-however, there is one emerging theme to address: using sex for visitors.

I agree with what you, Ilyka, and Rob said-I'm not in this for the hits, I'm in this to get some things off my chest. I do write about sex, but not to turn people on, rather I do so since it is a part of life (and a good part, I might add).
