Comments: God sure has a funny sense of humor...

As I understand it (from the discussion of this over at Ace's place), there are plenty of infested vermin this side of the Rockies in this country, but the disease is very easy to nip in the bud with antibiotics.

It is impossible not to have a moment of thinking, "well, you DID want to go back to the Middle Ages" in one's reaction to that story.

And we don't know how many AQ groups or Taliban cells they passed it along to before they bought the farm.

This might just be the beginning . . .

exactly. Here in the States it's extremely treatable, despite being endemic.

I suppose it's just possible they might have been playing around with bacteria...although bioterror is illegal, I don' think that would stop Al-Qaeda.

If that were the case, they got what they deserved. I hate to think of someone dying of plague, but if it's a "they died before they had a chance to kill innocents," then I don't feel so bad.

Yes, lots of flea-and-plague infested rodents Rock of the Westies, which is why I've never tried to cook squirrels here. Blasted a few but never tried to process them.

I love that thread at Ace's but for the moment I'll come down on the side of the skeptics until I see some other confirmation. That kind of spread that quickly? I think it would have had to hit the pneumonic stage.

Still, hope springs eternal for a painful death for these pukes.

I haven't an ounce of sympathy for those animals. Looks like God finally threw in his two cents on the matter. May they all die like the vermin they are.
