Comments: Sky News: Japanese hostage beheaded in Iraq by monsters

What kind of monster was it that did the decapitating?

Frankenstein?

The Boogeyman?

Godzilla?

Posted by Howdy Doody at October 29, 2004 07:46 PM

Muslims.

It may be time to turn Mecca into glass.

Posted by mike jurick at October 29, 2004 07:49 PM

What kind of monster you ask? Are you that dense that you don't see these Islamic Nazis for what they are? Bloodthirsty Psychopaths who butcher and mutilate innocent human beings for the pure twisted pleasure of it. That is what they mean by monster.

Posted by Muslims are Bloodthirsty Monsters at October 29, 2004 07:53 PM

Instead insurgents could have bombed or shot him like other 100,000 iraqi civilians. Thanks to operation Iraqi freedon.

Posted by Zubair at October 29, 2004 07:55 PM

How many civilians were decapitated by cluster bombs, innocent civilians from a country that never attacked us? Any idea?

Posted by hector smith at October 29, 2004 07:55 PM

I agree wih the fundamentalists! When we decide to decapitate people, it should be done with shock and awe, daisy cutters and MOABS - to ensure the job is done clinically - Thus the mission is accomplished!

Posted by Kamran Hall at October 29, 2004 08:00 PM

well lets juts pull out of Iraq, release Sadam and let them get on with it then ey?

Huh? Do you seriously believe that civilian casualties in war justifies these beheadings? Yes, in the end both are just as dead, but at least those killed by cluster bombs went quick, and didn't have to suffer though knowing what was coming, nor did their relatives get to watch it play out on television.

Yes, deaths of innocents by any means is wrong, but one certainly can not justify the other. Retribution killings never work, you never "get even", you just keep raising the stakes.

Never ever forget that these hostage takers and murderers are THE WORLDS GREATEST COWARDS.

They hide behind hoods. They are not soldiers but FEEBLE GUTLESS COWARDS AFRAID TO SHOW THEIR FACE.

Posted by Alex at October 29, 2004 08:04 PM

Firing cruise missiles or dropping bombs from thousands of feet over civilians is no act of bravery either. We are paying for our mistakes and if we dont learn from it this vicious cycle of killings would never stop. Remember these insurgents are regular people with heart and soul. Instead of just killing them may be we should put some effort to figure out what made them so furious and vicious.

Posted by ken at October 29, 2004 08:22 PM

I wonder if I were to capture an Iraqi student, and videotape their beheading with a chainsaw- if NBC would cover it- or would I have to post it to some website?

Posted by jeff at October 29, 2004 08:34 PM

I think it's wrong to characterize these people as "Monsters". That just enables us to ignore the reasons why they're doing such things, and doesn't allow us have a clear vision for a future world without terrorists. I'm not saying they had a right to do what they did, but by labeling them as "Monsters", we take away the human aspect and turn a blind eye to what created the views of these people.

Its far more cowardly to kill Iraqis with bombs from warplanes at 30,000ft ... or fire cruise missles at them from giant iron warships hundreds of miles out in the ocean.
If Iraqis occupied my country... damn right I would pick them off one by one when they strayed from safety.

Posted by Owned at October 29, 2004 08:40 PM

The bastards who did this were monsters who did not have a religion they seek to inflame passions by doing these terrible acts. I don't know much about Islam but seriously doubt that it would back killing. I think Muslims need to wake up and start taking a stance against these terrorist bastards.

Posted by somename at October 29, 2004 08:41 PM

The vicious cycle of killing will never stop. You are correct. Two branches of muslims have been at it for over 700 years They kill each other because of differing beliefs.

700 years of pay back. The beheadings are 700 years old targeted at selected individuals.

Posted by catachat at October 29, 2004 08:42 PM

When will the country wake up to the fact that the Iraq invasion not only did not accomplish much save for jailing Saddam, but has vastly increased both the number and the fervor of the terrorists that would like to behead us all. No doubt dethroning Saddam was a noble task, but it should have been WAY down on the priority stack. This is a major blunder that will havd enormous negative consequences for this country.

Posted by Ken at October 29, 2004 08:46 PM

If there weren't foreigners in Iraq to slaughter, Iraqis and other Arabs would be slaughtering each other, as Iran and Iraq did during their long war. They even used chemical weapons on each other. Aside from that cult in Japan that used a WMD in the subway there, only the Arabs have used WMD's against their own people (Syria, Iraq) and against each other (Iran, Iraq). Yes, Germany used mustard gas against the British and US in WWI, and the US dropped h-bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, but the latter was done force an end to war with a foregone conclusion and to lower the number of casualties on both sides. After understanding the devastation and horror of "the bomb," though, no Western country has ever used a WMD again. Sorry to say that the Arabs as a people have proven most violent, aggressive and bloodthirsty long after the rest of the world seems to be realizing -- albeit slowly -- that barbarism must be a thing of the past.

Posted by Rational at October 29, 2004 08:50 PM

Rational: Time seems to have stood still for these people, maybe a recessive gene. They seem to still resemble people from the 9th century. No wonder there is no economic and social progress from what was once a glorious culture.

I can't argue with this statement at all. But if you were in an oppressed situation...which I am sure you are not. And you were occupied by a country that was working to help you setup a government that would be for the people and not oppression. You might act differently. Instead, you take your comfortable life of freedom for granted. If they really wanted to make a difference, they would get envolved with the new government to try and make a difference. You talk about how cowardly the military is for using bombs . Honestly, if the military wished to oppress the poeople and be cowards. They would turn each city into a parking lot. Then behead any who was left.
The thing is those who are condoning the beheading would say the military is acting as horrible monsters and slaying the innocent. The fact is, it doesn't matter what happens....you will always fault the US. These people you praise as humans wishing to voice their outrage....are not fighting the occupiers....They are taking it out on people who are only their to help repair/heal the nation.
If they were not cowards, they would fight the occupiers and not the innocent who are over there to help. There are times, I wish that the military would say....They think we are horrible....lets show them horrible. Act as these
terrorists are acting and destroy the nation. But then I realize that makes us no better. Oh wait...you condone beheadings...I forgot

Steve ,you are wrong. In war there are inevitable tragedies which are errors. A bomb gone astray, an innocent accidently killed, a frightened soldier firing at innocents.

To kidnap a tourist ,a social worker, a truck driver, a kid and execute them as an example or a threat only shows that they are gutless cowards. These are cold calculated decisions from the most primitive of (in)humans.

What the hell was the prat doing in Iraq? The fool got what he deserved.

Posted by Marko at October 29, 2004 10:01 PM

If he has been murdered can anyone please explain why he derved to die. Foolish maybe but deserved to die?

Posted by Marko !! at October 29, 2004 10:20 PM

I'm sorry, but when did cutting someone's head off become a point of view? Do you honestly think you could sit down and have a reasonable discussion with a person who would do such a thing? These aren't protestors at your local city council meeting, they aren't going to simply stop killing innocent people if we just pick up and leave. Do you really want to understand, and be compassionate for someone who would love nothing more than to kill you and your entire family? Don't you see that that these people are 9th century barbarians, how are you going to use 21st century reasoning to convince them to ever be anything but barbarians? Don't you see that they don't want to be part of our world? They are fight tooth and nail to stay in the 9th century. These beheadings are a perfect example of that. They will only stop trying to kill us when we no longer exist. There is no negotiation that can end this conflict. They can't even accept our right to exist, even if we are no where near them. They only recourse we have is to either destroy them completely (which is not acceptable to many) or to contain them in their 9th century sand box so they can't get out to hurt any of us.

Posted by Pissed off American at October 29, 2004 10:26 PM

what will be the end of it the brits and the yanks went into a land and now to get it right they will have to stay there and sort it if you ask me the should pull out all troops right away and let them sort it out for themselves over there

This is the land where time stood still.

Saddam is reported to have said "get rid of me and you will have 10 Saddams.

He was wrong , its more like 100,000 Saddams more likely.

Its in their blood.

A scorpion asked a frog to give him a ride across a pond.

The Frog declined because you will bite me and we will both perish.

The scorpion pleaded with the frog and so the frog relented. The scorpion crawled on the back of the frog and off they went.

About halfway across the pond the scorpion bit the frog. As the frog slowly started to die and sink to the bottom of the pond. With the scorpion attached to his back the frog asked why did you do it?

The scorpion replied "its in my nature"

Try giving this as excuse to someone who lost his family in that. If i had to bury my whole family and there is no justice availabe, may be i will shoot myself or shoot everyone around me.

Where was all the sympathy for the men, women, and children that were being murdered by Sadam's regime??? I am sick of hearing you wacked out peoples point of view. Your sick in the mind.

Its been tried long enough with too many casualties both sides.. now with Civilians being butchered and decapitated.. Another Vietnam war beckons.. Now everyone should get out who doesn't belong there and let them sort it out for themselves..
Whose country is it anyway? If they want to be left alone.. leave them alone.

Posted by Baz at October 31, 2004 09:54 AM

Those hostage takers are 90% not iraqi but yemenites jordan and other arabs who come to iraq to make a "statement". America always went "eye for an eye". That'S what happenes there, too. very sad., but not surprising.

Posted by tob at November 2, 2004 03:41 AM

I think its disgraceful that these animals actually believe that they are doing something right. They are brainwashed and how dare they use their beliefs for their actions.

There may get no justice in this world but they will in the next - they will in the next world suffer greatly.

Posted by concerned at November 5, 2004 08:17 AM

I agree with Alex and the point of view.

Posted by Sue at November 8, 2004 07:34 AM

Uneducated, brain-washed and gutless.
Lets face it, do these terrorists think by their actions they are making the life of the average citizen in Iraq better,Like I said-uneducated, brainwashed and gutless-If they were real men on their so called jihad which they are not, they would go to their front line instead of murdering tourists.

You're absolutely right. Contain them, let them have at it, and get the heck out of Dodge. In fact, I believe containing Saddam is exactly what we were doing, till King George decided to be gung ho.
