What a beautiful present. Hmmm. Wish my guy would've thought of that! Course, at least he called and said Happy V day to me. He's deployed so I can give him leeway. I know him though and I just think I might copy what you've written and save it for next year! Might come in handy.

After reading that, I really miss my Valentine.
Sweet trip down memory land, Mama. Thanks.

Well, I hear ya. What's the difference between Valentines day and "Sweetest Day" if it ain't where the end justifies the means? And even then, whats the difference. Isn't that one of the purposes of the day, to, as Pepe' LePue says, Make Loooove. Nice presents, Nice talkin', special consideration, and in the end... you all that now me know what I was 'bout to type, but in respect to Mamma, I'll leave it to you all to fill in the blanks there...

I'm just sayin'. Valentines day works both ways don't it? ;)

Wonderful sentiments but I would argue against approaching a relationship (especially a continuing one) without expectations. If there are no expectations, how can they be reached or bested? Maybe "no unreasonable expectations" would work better.
