Comments: Sentiment for the night....

I saw an interview recently where Johnny Rotten said "That was for US, not the fans." Uh... no. I have a tape of that last concert at Winterland in San Francisco.

After (I believe) "Liar", the audience applauded wildly. Johnny sneered "If you'll tolerate that, you'll tolerate anything."

At one other point in the show Johnny asks them "How does it feel to have bad taste?"

At the end of the encore -- the old Stooges song "No Fun" -- Johnny is squatting and staring out at the audience exasperated and sighing "This is no fun, No fun, At all..."

He then almost shruggedly asks "D'ya ever get the feeling you'd been cheat'd?" He was kicked out of the band that night.

So, when he says "That was for US, not the fans," he's only half-right. He had such a low opinion of himself and, thus, the band, that he projected it onto -- and took it out on -- the audience.

Contempt for the audience. That's what killed Dennis Day, y'know!

well, speaking of poisoning your own well, Robertson may just help the religious part of the right be a less than savory part of the Repubs... hmmmm, fine by me.

Damn TS,
I just meant that it is not fun to have your BBQ rained on. Johnny Rotten's quote is one of my favorite about unfairities, regardless of politics or situations.
